Oh, How He Loves Us.

Have you ever heard anyone say, ‘I highly doubt that God concerns himself with {insert seemingly insignificant personal thing here}’? I’m sure we all have. If we’re being honest, we’ve all thought it at one point or the other. It’s easy to feel lost in a sea of 7 billion, right? I know I’ve thought to myself many times, I’m crying over this petty thing and there are people with real problems. Let me get myself together while God helps those who actually need it.

Since when does God operate in this box we seem to put Him in?! We tend to forgot to whom we belong. Isaiah 40:38 puts us in our place real quick. “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” God is all powerful, all knowing. His capacity for us knows no bounds!

We are significant in the eyes of the Lord. We matter to Him. Consider Psalms 139:13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Then it goes on to say, “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” He knit us together in our mother’s wombs and has a path for each and every one of us. It doesn’t say only for the people with real problems. He cares this much for every single person. Luke 12:7 says, “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” For a frame of reference, the average person has over 100,000 hairs on their head. You feel important yet?

Well, here is the ultimate question – who would you die for? Most of us wouldn’t willingly die for a stranger. God sent His own son to die for all mankind, in the hope that we would choose to live for Him and have eternal life. That is how much He loves us. Romans 5:8 says, “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The highest form of love – agape love. Agape is a Greek word meaning unconditional, sacrificial love.

When we start to understand the depth of His love for us, we realize we can go to Him with anything. We should run to Him first, before seeking counsel elsewhere. He wants us to give our burdens to Him. 1 Peter 5:6-7 says to, “humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” He is faithful to us when we lean on Him. I absolutely love the passage in Lamentations 3:22-23 that says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Such beautiful, unbelievable promises from our Heavenly Father.

So whatever is troubling you, whether you deem it too big or too small, take it to the Lord. He will cover you with His unending love.

Until next time, friend.
