“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
It’s a phrase we’ve all heard at one point or another. The 5th commandment – honor thy father and thy mother. A statement so simple, yet profound enough that it made the top ten.
As a verb, honor means to regard with great respect. We know that we can honor our parents in many ways. However, most of which are deemed unacceptable by today’s woke culture. Things like referring to them by their gender specific colloquial names are non-inclusive. Listening to them regale stories of the good ole days are long past because history is offensive. Oh, and let us not forget the biggest offensive in our current state, actually visiting them in person. It is careless and dangerous and the opposite of love considering the deadly viruses running amuck in the world.
The steady decline of society has been evident. However, this outright assault on the family, specifically the elder generation, is so disgustingly blatant. The days of respecting your elders are no more. We are now expected to correct our elders and teach them how not to offend others by simply existing. Instead of learning from their personal histories, they’re being told how harmful their lives have been on this generation and of those to come. By raising their families according to God’s biological standards, through hard work and sacrifice, they’ve somehow created a toxic environment in which a sensitive soul simply cannot thrive.
So, society has cast them aside. They’ve written them off as a stubborn stumbling block to the new way of life. Technology has taken over the world and they’re labeled too simpleminded to embrace it so they’ve been left to watch Wheel of Fortune solo. They had no problem locking them in their nursing homes alone ‘for their safety’ in the midst of this man-made pandemic. Speaking of safety, what about the facade of caring for our elders first by lining them up for the lifesaving shot? The same shot that has ravaged our society but we’re not supposed to say that out loud.
Well, I’m shouting it from the rooftops because I simply cannot stay silent any longer. We are literally killing our elders in the name of advancing society. We’re killing them in the name of progression. We are sacrificing them on the altar of the New World Order and not even hiding it! They’re literally killing off the old and brainwashing the new. They don’t want wise elders feeding into the younger generation because God-forbid they teach them right from wrong! They can’t take the chance that a saint will pour into them the Word of God and instill in them the fear of the Lord. Removing reverence for the older generation only furthers the mission of removing God from our society. This nation was built on praying mothers and Godly fathers and that simply doesn’t fit the evil agenda being thrust on society at an alarming rate.
While speaking to my own mother recently, I said that my generation, those in their early-mid 30’s, are really the last generation that remembers what life used to be. Recent technology came to light when we were in high school. Social media entered the chat after we graduated. The changes we see today feel like they happened overnight, although we know it’s been years in the making. Prayer was removed from public schools in 1962, before my own parents were born. So, this agenda isn’t new. It has simply been accelerated as of late. The removal of Biblical principals in inexplicably linked to the moral decay of society. The God who created our very existence has been replaced by the one who revered himself as a god. Satan was the original narcissist, thinking he was equal to and even higher than God almighty. He was cast down from Heaven to reside on this earth. Ephesians 2:2 calls him the prince and the power of the air that works in disobedience. No wonder we are enduring the effects of an irreverent, self-serving society.
Even in the midst of societal ruin, there are still those who value those who’ve sacrificed for their gain. My own parents honored their parents by caring for them until their entrance into Glory. They even call it the greatest honor of their lives to be able to give to the ones who gave everything to them. What a beautiful testament to their upbringing. I know there are many others who are honoring God through their commitment to their families. This is how we show the world the sacrificial love of Christ. Those who are living according to God’s standards raising future disciples. It is not easy but it is worth it. Hebrews 13:7 says, “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”
Talk about life goals. That is life goals.
I encourage you to love your people well. Honor their contributions to your life while they’re here with you. Honor their lives by pouring into the lives of your children. There is no greater gift to future generations than passing on the love of Jesus.
Until next time,
